Shift : NIGHTS

Summary

Repairs and maintains air compressors, boilers, piping, presses, gearboxes, hydraulics, chiller lines, extruders, mechanical and structural welding, and mechanical refurbishment of equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Required to know all skills from Mechanic Grade 2
  • Must be familiar with rotary unions, steam traps, valves(numerous types)
  • Must have a working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Perform PM and routine work on hydraulic presses
  • Perform PM and routine repairs on extrusion dies and mixers
  • Perform PM and routine repairs of chopper/granulators/grinders
  • Monitor temperature readings and inspects drive motors, generators, boilers, gear boxes, brakes, conveyors, etc
  • Assists with various maintenance duties, as needed such as preventative maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting/ diagnostic of equipment, filter changes, lubrication.
  • Rigging/heavy equipment moving experience is a plus

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

The following items are required PPE for this position: Leather Boots, Safety Glasses, and Uniforms.

Safety

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
