We have an internal promotion opportunity for two Materials Coordinator Team Leads in Fremont, Ca. The Materials Coordinator Team Leads will lead the team to excel in daily performance and achieve high levels of safety, quality, and efficiency. The Materials Coordinator Team Lead must have a complete understanding of all warehouse functions and area.

Responsibilities:
  • Follows standard work where available; helps to document standard work for their team and function and monitor adherence by their team to documented standard work.
  • Responds immediately to team members issues; first line of defense for teammates when issues impede their ability to perform their work safely or efficiently.
  • Work with support functions and their manager to ensure rapid response to issues
  • Facilitate the daily plan for their team, assign work and ensure performance to plan
  • Review performance of team members to identify where training or development may be required; work with their manager to help address any performance concerns/issues
  • Update the tier boards and lead daily tier meetings
  • Ensure team members understand key performance indicators (KPIs) and embrace goals set for the team
  • Align team with strategic goals by working with the team to identify ideas or projects for process improvement and all elements of people, safety, quality, delivery, cost and innovation.
  • Coach and train team members from onboarding through daily operations, identify any gaps and work with their manager on plans to close them.
  • Work with fellow team leaders to improve performance across the value stream.
  • Identify roadblocks that are inhibiting progress; seek help from leadership and support when required.
  • Communicate performance and progress to team, direct manager, production system management and/or customers.
  • Encourage and lead a culture of continuous improvement and systematic problem solving
  • Frequently interface with team by being available on the shop floor.
Qualities:
  • Reading, writing and basic math skills
  • PC literate with experience in MS Word, Excel and ERP database programs
  • Forklift certification preferred (may be trained at ELMA)
  • Works on assignments that require judgment and extensive detail
  • Must be trained and proficient on all aspects of Material Coordinator I and II
  • Prepare for the day prior to team arrival to allow for a smooth kick off and limited down time before work begins for the shift
  • Must be willing to work overtime when needed to meet delivery commitments and support the team
  • Must be able to work and lead in an extremely diverse, factory/production environment
  • Must maintain a positive attitude and possess great people skills
  • Must hold safety as the top priority for themselves and their teammates
  • Must represent Elma in a positive and confident way
  • Must take ownership and strive for continuous improvement
Education:
  • High school graduate or equivalent, some college preferred
  • 5-8 years related warehouse experience in a production environment
