  • Manages the validation, integration, and launch viability of specific electronic/electrical (E/E) technical content or complete System for new product launches and new customer function introductions, and continuous quality thereof in series production.
  • Leads root-cause analysis of pre- series and series produced vehicles, including conducting complex vehicle electrical systems analysis and test activities (both static and dynamic).
  • Collaborates with team members and process partners, both locally and within the BMW Group global network to ensure the expected quality of new products and functions are met for launch and series production quality continues to meet requirements. Innovates new methods or processes for the purpose of testing and validation within their technical content area and establishes best practices with process partners in the BMW Group global network.
  • Develops and provides a test plan to team members, according to the function maturity implementation plan of new launch content, taking into consideration vehicle, hardware, and software availability timing.
  • Executes test plan as new Hardware or Software are introduced, or when a new maturity level is expected.
  • Performs root-cause analysis and provides documentation of E/E issues, including submitting defects in problem solving systems for resolution.
  • Represents the department within the global plant network operations teams (FT-Ops = Fachteam Operations ) as an expert of specific technical content.
  • Summarizes test and validation results within department for further reporting by the Test Manager, EFA Integrator, FT-Ops or Management. Coordinates with the local Test Manager & FT-Ops in variant planning to ensure all new content and customer functions can be validated prior to launch, and where necessary, develops a risk assessment of content which cannot be validated.
  • Evaluates solutions provided by suppliers and/or development from prototype to the final released solution for confirmation of effectiveness.
  • Evaluates and verifies proposed software and hardware design changes in coordination with internal and external process partners.
  • Collaborates with internal process partners (process planning, rework, and assembly) to ensure new products or proposed changes can be produced to the required quality specifications.
  • Provides technical or specialized guidance on E/E related topics to internal and external process partners.
  • Promotes the principles and values of BMW Manufacturing in daily activities and planning functions.
  • Complies with Plant Management Systems through appropriate training and awareness.
  • Ensures continuous improvements for systems within area of responsibility.
  • Facilitates Plant-wide processes for (PST) Problem-Solving Teams, 8D, and (CST) Cross-System Teams.
  • Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
  • Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Automotive preferred) or international equivalent. OR The equivalent of 4 years of professional experience in Engineering/Product Development, Automotive electrical systems analysis, IT / Computer Science, or Manufacturing Quality.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in Engineering/Product Development, OR Automotive electrical systems analysis, IT / Computer Science, OR Manufacturing Quality.
  • 2+ years of professional project or team leadership experience.
  • Valid drivers license in good standing per BMW vehicle program required.
  • 5+ years of MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Access).
  • 3+ years of documentation, analytical writing, and presentation skills.
  • 3+ years of ability to read, interpret and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • 1+ years of project leadership skills.
  • 1+ years of skills in process development with internal & external organizations associated to department targets.
  • German Language skills (preferred).
