Job Description

The Accountant position safely performs position specific responsibilities in line with Olympic Steel's Core Values to ensure a high level of productivity, quality and internal and external customer service while adhering to all relevant company policies and procedures. The Accountant works closely with the appropriate Accounting staff (i.e. Divisional Accounting Supervisor, Regional Controller, etc.) to conduct regularly scheduled financial reporting related to several different accounting responsibilities. This person will assist with month-end closing process, inventory control, AP/AR and supports the associated department's accounting management team to complete special projects and requests from senior leaders as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA eligibility a plus
• Previous experience in an accounting role/internship; public accounting experience strongly preferred
• Knowledge of SOX Compliance
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with strong Excel skills
• Strong statistical analysis skills
• Proven organizational and multi-tasking skills with ability to self-manage
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to collect and consolidate data from multiple locations and systems
• Ability to learn systems and how to extract and summarize data using multiple program(s)
• Strong statistical analysis skills
