Position Summary
The CAVE- Art Studio Technician is an integral member of the Dodd Studio Support team and serves to manage and oversee the daily operations of the web Checkout for Audio and Visual Equipment (CAVE), CAVE-Mart and Flat Lab. This position plays a vital role in ensuring ease of access to, maintaining, and managing a wide variety of equipment and resources to support teaching, research and learning at the Lamar Dodd School of Art.

This position hires, trains and manages a team of five hourly workers and federal work study students to use Web Checkout for equipment and keys, collect fines, assess damaged equipment and answers a variety of technical/equipment questions. Also responsible for ordering AV equipment and hardware for the Lupin Checkout and will work with the Franklin College business team to ensure adherence to an annual operating budget. In addition, the position is expected to have a firm understanding of the technological needs of an art program, the size and scope of the school, and a willingness to forge networks with AV tech companies and vendors

  • Knowledge of and experience with audio/visual equipment including manual and digital cameras, video cameras, lenses, lighting equipment, projectors, monitors, media players, audio recorders, mixers, microphones, speakers, data storage, cables, and adapters.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple competing projects in an organized, efficient manner by prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and self-starting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to interact with a variety of personalities at all levels, exercising tact, confidentiality, sound judgment, diplomacy, and flexibility to promote positive working relationships and job effectiveness.

Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of the Checkout for Audio/Visual Equipment. Supervise and train monitors to use the Lupin Foundation Technology & Research Kiosk, enforce checkout policies, collect fines, assess equipment damage and repair when necessary. Ensure faculty, staff and students have access to equipment in a timely manner. Consult with various school area heads and supervisors about procuring new equipment for the CAVE, Photo, and Flat Lab in line with budgets. Follow UGA credit/debit policies and PCI compliance. Work with Franklin College business team and UGA Bursar and Treasury Services to complete credit/debit card policy training and SAQ to ensure PCI compliance. Keep materials secured, complete EOD reports, monthly reconciliations, follow all other protocols outlined by UGA policies and PCI compliance. Train employees in the use of Clover machine and UGA policies. Responsible for annual inventory for all equipment. Maintain and build upon current organization of Checkout center and equipment for streamlined checkout process.

Team member of Dodd Studio Support. Respond to Dodd Studio tickets requests in a timely manner. Evaluate and repair broken tools and equipment suggest replacement when necessary.

General Departmental Support. Oversee the distribution and cataloging of keys to faculty, staff and graduate students. Handles the check out of lockers for students. Manages Sign up Genius for all areas.

Oversee daily operations of the CAVE Mart- art supply store. Supervise student workers to handle point of sales and restock supplies. Research and order art supplies, track and manage inventory for CAVE Mart.

Responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Flat Lab, supervising lab monitors, be available to students, staff and faculty who need assistance using the equipment.
