SUMMARY

The Engineering team is seeking a summer intern to support in the development of a Sustainability Project Tracker Tool and updated database for the Solutions North America network. The creation of this infrastructure is essential for improving visibility and accountability over site-specific sustainability projects. In addition to helping advance company sustainability goals, these outcomes have the potential to help attract and retain clients that are seeking environmentally responsible 3PL partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborating with the Sustainability Manager and Data & Analytics team to design and buildout a Sustainability Project Tracking tool in Power BI
  • Supporting the Sustainability Manager in developing improved documentation and processes that will be used by site leadership to submit projects for approval, execute projects, and provide status updates in a standardized manner
  • Participating in regular check-ins with the Sustainability Manager to review progress

Industry & Group Partnership:

The Sustainability Intern can also participate in network calls, global Sustainability Ambassador meetings, and select out-of-scope sustainability meetings as desired, with prior approval from the divisional VP of Engineering.

The anticipated timeline:

Week 1: Get set up (possibly with in-person visit to Lawrenceville); introduction to relevant sustainability contacts; intro meeting with Data & Analytics

Week 2: Review existing project tracking infrastructure and outline desired finished product (including desired data to collect)

Week 3 - 6: Submit desired product to Data & Analytics and align on "backend data template"; work with site leadership to gather project updates and data; backfill data

Weeks 7 - 8: Submit backend data to Data & Analytics team; work with Sustainability Manager to develop the tools and processes that sites will use to provide project updates moving forward

Week 9: Align with Data & Analytics team on new data collection process; informal roll out of new program to Regional and Site Champions [Sustainability Manager will officially launch the new program once Power BI tool has been published]

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

  • Must currently be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program
  • Desired majors: environmental science, supply chain management, data analytics, engineering, business administration, or other related quantitative fields

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio

Language Skills

  • Local language required.

Mathematical Skills

  • Proficient budgeting and analytical skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Computer Skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI - end user

Professional Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability collect, organize, and maintain large volumes of data, including confidential information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.

Language Skills

  • English preferred
  • Multilingual a Plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a typical warehouse environment that can involve changing temperatures and the ability to navigate safety on an operational floor in a working warehouse environment with people and equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
