Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven experience with RIS/PAC and Diagnostic Imaging systems within a hospital setting, preferred 2-5 years hands on skill.
  • -Exceptional ability to learn new applications that support imaging systems throughout a hospital the utilizes multi-modality imaging applications.
Position Summary
The Diagnostic Imaging Systems Coordinator is primarily responsible for overseeing all software systems and applications used to capture and store diagnostic images taken at the UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital and the Pet Health Center as well as for any off-site visits. Modalities utilized include CT, MRI, Nuclear Imaging, Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, and Endoscopy. This position works independently to implement and maintain the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archive and Communications System (PACS). The employee additionally assists the College's IT staff with the integration of the various imaging applications with the VTH's Electronic Medical Records system (VetView) and works with other clinical services as appropriate, to help integrate their imaging applications. This person also works closely with the VTH's Medical Equipment Manager and Diagnostic Imaging Team to assist with the selection, implementation, and integration of new and replacement imaging modalities and software applications related to imaging.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Experience with networks, IT security, HL7, and DICOM standards.
  • Experience establishing direct, internet connections via LAN to LAN VPN technology, or other suitable network technology, to sites that are used for secondary consultations for the purpose of real time consultation.
  • Experience training a large client base in the operation and use of RIS and PACS, or equivalent software systems, including the creation and management of Policies and Procedures for operations.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, analytical and problem-solving skills; proven skills to work as part of a team, capacity to satisfy customers, and the ability to enhance clinical information systems.

Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Oversee the administration of all Enterprise Imaging software systems and applications currently used at the VTH such as Mach7 "eUnity" Viewer, Mach7 Vendor Neutral Archive, MedQ Q-RIS, and Antech Imaging Services. Help manage the image upload processes for all diagnostic imaging equipment to ensure the systems are communicating correctly and images are being captured and uploaded appropriately. Analyze and troubleshoot image capture and data processing problems, including reconciling image routing problems and other system errors, resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Work with external teleradiology reporting services utilized by the hospital to ensure that information is being passed back and forth between systems correctly and efficiently.
  • Provide support for other imaging related systems utilized throughout the hospital such as endoscopy, surgery cameras, Dexa, echo, c-arm, dental radiography, orthopedic surgery planning, and radiation oncology planning applications, among others, integrating them with the VTH's enterprise imaging software systems as much as possible and streamlining processes.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Stay up to date on new and emerging imaging software systems and make recommendations for changes as appropriate. Ensure that the hospital's various imaging software systems are as integrated as possible and make recommendations on how to reduce redundant efforts and improve workflows. Actively seek out ways to better serve internal and external constituents' imaging needs and increase hospital-wide imaging efficiencies.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Assist with setting up new user access to diagnostic imaging software systems, providing training as needed. Assist with various report template modification and customization requests.
  • Work with the Diagnostic Imaging Team and the Medical Equipment Manager to assist in evaluating new equipment to ensure its compatibility with current imaging software systems as well as to ensure the renewal of relevant software and other system contracts annually.
  • Work with the CVM IT Team to diagnose, troubleshoot, and help resolve software, hardware, or other network and system problems as well as to implement software updates. Work with CVM IT to ensure imaging data is being backed up regularly and that there is a disaster recovery plan in place.
