Position Summary
The position works as part of the Office of Undergraduate Services team within the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. The position reports to the Director of Undergraduate Services and coordinates position specific responsibilities related to academic advising. Under the supervision of the Director, the position works closely with Grady advisors and departments, and the Exploratory Center. This position works regularly with prospective and current students. Additionally, the position interacts and collaborates with multiple constituents and stakeholders external to Grady to increase enrollment and college visibility.

Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities
Advise, provide support, and communicate with students on academic procedures, policies, goals, and objectives, guidance, professional development, and problem resolution for assigned majors within the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Collaborate with the Department of Advertising and Public Relations in recruitment and retention of students. Provide support for Grady students on continued academic probation. Participate in New Student Orientation. Provide individual student graduation checks. Serve on departmental and campus-wide committees related to academic advising. Consult with department to inform curriculum and bulletin planning for long-term student success. Other majors may be assigned as determined by the Director of Undergraduate Services for academic advising case management. Assist with the establishment of new policies and procedures related to academic advising and the development and implementation of new advising resources and aids.

Duties/Responsibilities
Participate in events such as Prospective Student Information Sessions, Orientation Resource Fairs, Majors Fair, and New Dawgs to recruit students and inform influencers. Collaborate with other departments and/or college and central administration to ensure a coordinated approach to student recruitment and retention.

Provide information to relevant departments regarding course scheduling and enrollment, including class needs and enrollment projections. Assist with course scheduling and classroom enrollment management questions as needed.
