The Maintenance Technician evaluates, repairs, and maintains hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems. Works as part of the Athens Plant maintenance team to perform preventative and corrective maintenance, conducting all activities within agreed maintenance guidelines and procedures to increase the overall efficiency of the equipment and production lines.

Your responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a high level of mechanical skills and self-motivation.
  • Receive and understand spoken and written technical instructions and respond in English.
  • Read and interpret information from manuals, blueprints, schematics, and other documentation in hard copy or electronic formats as necessary to maintain equipment.
  • Function safely in an industrial manufacturing setting where factory physical conditions exist, including shift work as required. Overtime is a requirement of the job.
  • Use overhead cranes/hoists and powered industrial vehicles as necessary.
  • Attendance and punctuality to company standards
  • Adhere to policies and procedures as an ABB employee, including health, safety and environmental guidelines and directives to ensure the safety of people and resources. Follow LOTO and other safety procedures.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as required.
  • Train and share knowledge & information with coworkers.
  • Other temporary duties/responsibilities as assigned.
Your background

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school degree or military training preferred.
  • Applicants without a technical degree must commit to completing a degree program post hire.
  • Experience with PLC's, machine tool controls, welding and fabrication are a plus.
  • Good overall computer skills including MS Office.
