Assist with data curation and interpretation of macroinvertebrate community and habitat quality datasets.

Support additional projects for microbial ecology projects in the lab group (molecular lab work and field work in wetlands on Department of Energy installation).

Minimum Qualifications
Position Summary
This position will fulfill several duties: 1) collection and organization of field and laboratory data and writing 2) additional project support for soil and wetland microbial ecology projects in the lab group (molecular lab work and field work), and 3) basic management of the supervisor’s laboratory (order and organize supplies, adherence safety protocols, basic equipment maintenance).
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Attention to detail and an interest in macroinvertebrate and microbial ecology.
General data curation and software experience including MS Excel and MS Word. Experience with R Studio is a plus.
Familiarity with or interest in lab work including pipetting, nucleic acid extraction, 96-well plate reader, centrifuges, PCR machines, metal acid digestions, and working with laboratory chemicals.
Interest in field work in wetlands in the Southeastern US.
Will operate a vehicle.

Lift 25 lbs and occasional work in a variety of outdoor conditions (e.g., heat, high humidity, mosquitoes, ticks, snakes). Driving as needed to perform job duties.
