What will I be doing?

IRI is currently looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to join the team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations for various domestic and international responsibilities while maintaining and reporting accurate and timely financial information and ensuring appropriate controls and compliance processes are followed.

The position reports directly to the Corporate Director of Accounting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assisting in completing the monthly financial accounting close process
  • Supporting external financial reporting including MD&A and related supporting documents
  • Ensuring Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) compliance
  • performing accounting research and documenting related position memorandums, supporting internal management reporting
  • Performing balance sheet and income statement financial analyses, reviewing/analyzing profit & Loss statements for assigned divisions/roll-up functions
  • Completing balance sheet account reconciliations, supporting annual financial audits, proactively taking on special projects/ad hoc analyses, and performing other assigned tasks and responsibilities
  • Performs accounting research to ensure proper accounting and reporting treatment, and prepares accounting memos to document the application of accounting standards or significant accounting processes
  • Supports financial reporting including MD&A and supporting documents
  • Performs variance analyses by reviewing the balance sheet and income statements for significant, unusual, or unexpected variances, and researches variances to identify root causes
  • Assists in completing the monthly close process while ensuring that all accounting entries for assigned areas are timely, accurate, and comply with GAAP
  • Ensures international monthly results are reconciled, reviewed, and have appropriate supporting documentation
  • Performs monthly consolidation accounting and document supporting schedules
  • Supports the annual financial audit and prepares work papers for external auditors
  • Supports the budget process by partnering with Finance to incorporate their guidance and numbers into the budget's preparation for the upcoming year

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited university, CPA certification preferred
  • 3 - 5 years of financial accounting experience, preferably in the technology and service industries
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and proficient with other Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • In-depth working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls
  • Previous experience with Workday Adaptive Insights a plus
  • Oracle Financials experience preferred
  • "Big Four" accounting firm experience is preferred
  • Previous experience with supporting an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems initiative as a Controller's Group representative a plus
  • Experience working with accounting systems, including general ledger chart of accounts maintenance, financial report writing, documenting accounting flows and finance business requirements, supporting testing efforts, and performing other day-to-day accounting operations
  • Excellent skills in organization, prioritization, and attention to detail
  • Team player; ability to work collaboratively with all departments, management levels within the company
